Site Documentation

RAMS current and on site?F10 notification done (if required)?Scaffold inspection reports up to date?Plant daily check records completed?Induction records available for all workers?CSCS cards on everyone on site?COSHH assessments available?Asbestos survey / register information on site?Insurance certificates accessible?

Physical Site Conditions

Edge protection in place at all open edges?Scaffold tagged and inspection within 7 days?Welfare facilities clean and stocked?Housekeeping acceptable (clear walkways, tidy materials)?Correct PPE being worn by everyone?Excavations supported or battered back?Fire extinguishers in place and in date?Signage visible (site rules, emergency info)?

When the Inspector Arrives

1.Stay calm — they are doing their job
2.Ask to see their ID (warrant card)
3.Walk them round — be open and helpful
4.Answer honestly — never guess or bluff
5.You can have a colleague present
6.Take notes of what they say and ask for
7.Ask for their findings in writing

An HSE visit is not a disaster — poor preparation is.
