Manual Handling — The Lift Technique

Manual Handling — The Lift TechniqueSiteKiln

    Before You Lift

    The 8 Steps

1Plan the lift — where to, route clear, need help?

2Feet — shoulder-width apart, one foot slightly forward

3Bend knees — keep your back straight

4Get a firm grip — use handles if available

5Lift with your legs — not your back

6Keep the load close — to your body

7Move your feet to turn — never twist your back

8Set down — by bending your knees again
