Before You Lift
The 8 Steps
1Plan the lift — where to, route clear, need help?
2Feet — shoulder-width apart, one foot slightly forward
3Bend knees — keep your back straight
4Get a firm grip — use handles if available
5Lift with your legs — not your back
6Keep the load close — to your body
7Move your feet to turn — never twist your back
8Set down — by bending your knees again

| Load | Heavy, bulky, unstable, sharp edges, hot/cold |

| Task | Twisting, reaching, repetition, long carry distance |
| Individual | Existing injury, fatigue, lack of training |
If it's too heavy or awkward — get help, use a mechanical aid, or break it down. No job is worth a slipped disc.
